The first year,
You wake up every day hoping you’re in a nightmare.
That’s the year you dream and you dream.
The one you forget your reality and hope that the universe can do this one thing for you.

The second year,
It’s starts to hit. You start to try to keep the memories on repeat.
Scared that this past year of denial might have caused you to forget.
The moments you shared are the treasures you’d keep forever.

The third year,
Your life has gone on three years and so many things have taken shape.
A lot of firsts have come and gone.
You’ve grown, failed, achieved and conquered.
You see things that remind you, hear songs that you once shared and even remember jokes you’d love to tell.

Excerpts from the blog "I don’t wish I could go back in time. I wish I allowed myself to enjoy the process."

The fourth year,
It’s official. The universe isn’t doing you a solid.
Now, when you dream. You know for sure it’s a dream.
You’d rather be there but you know you can’t.
You’ve accepted that this reality is here to stay and you’re finding your way to navigate.

The fifth year,
There’s the reflection. Five whole years and the clock keeps counting.
You still cry. Somewhere in your secret place you still mourn.
At this point, if you’re given a tiny chance to have one moment with them. You’d take it.
It won’t happen but it’s nice to wish still.

The sixth year,
You remember but somehow you don’t.
You can’t draw their faces in your mind as vividly as before.
You don’t smell them as easily.
You can’t hear their voices as loud.
The cherished moments you have stored slowly become distant. Ready to soon fade.
You find solace in the ones that’ll never elude you.

In the end, you’ll never forget the special people who came into your life and took their bow when you weren’t ready. You’ll always always remember.

I miss you, mummy. Always, forever and a day after.

– A family is a risky venture, because the greater the love, the greater the loss… That’s the trade-off. But I’ll take it all.
