In These Little Years

In these little years of mine,

I have learned about “ships” Friendships, relationships, “sisterships”. I think I am soul full to have them in my story. I’m even luckier that I can share in theirs.

In these little years of mine,

I have learnt that life doesn’t always turn out the way you want it to especially when you want it to. I have learnt that I have to be patient with my journey, it’s an unfolding that has nothing to do with me so no matter how much I may want to force or control or bend life, in the end, I can only flow with the tide of my life knowing that the power greater than me who put me here and guides me has orchestrated for me a journey more beautifully designed beyond anything I could have done or created for myself. So, in these little years of mine, I have learnt to let go and TRUST THE PROCESS – Adetutu Atta

In these little years of mine,

I’ve learned strength is not just mine, for my loved ones, I must shine, with a heart full of love divine. I’ve learned to laugh, to love, to cry, with the passion of a thousand suns in the sky. In these little years, I have come to see, time is fleeting, years are but a spree. I’ve learned to be real, to be true, to be happy, I must be the real me too. – Osarieme Odu

In these little years of mine,

I have learned that telling lies to others is harmful, but lying to yourself is suicidal. For growth to happen, we must be brutally honest with ourselves, own our shortcomings and begin to advance in the achievement of a better version of ourselves. Introspection is golden, acting on your findings is success. – Daniella Ukwa

In these little years of mine,

I have learnt that relationships (all kinds) are an integral part of life. The Bible says one will chase 1000 and 2 will chase 10,000. So, in these little years of mine; I’ve learnt to cherish and nurture family and friendships – Chineneye Okeke

In these little years of mine,

I’ve learned I am my number one supporter, and my family is a close second. People’s thoughts about me really don’t matter because everyone is immersed in their own life. God loves me more than I love myself, so I trust Him. I have to fight through bad days to earn the good ones. Accepting myself for who I am is the key to living a happy and fulfilling life. – Esohe Assan

In these little years of mine,

I have learnt to ask for and receive help when necessary. I’ve learnt to understand that you can have compassionate boundaries— be compassionate towards a person but also know when to draw the line. I am also learning to put myself first. Putting other people’s needs before mine is selfless but choosing to focus on myself isn’t selfish, it’s self-love and I love it!  – Akanwa Chizorom

In these little years of mine,

I’ve learned that true friends are better than family because you can’t choose family but your friends choose you. I’ve also learned that life’s a journey and if you’re rushing to your destination you don’t get to enjoy the ride. Most importantly I’ve learned peace is one thing money can’t buy. – Ehinomen Isikhuemen

In these little years of mine…

I am deliberately choosing patience, progress, persistence over perfection. I have come to realize I’m the most important person in my life, I deserve every bit of love, affection, care and grace that I extend to others. What this means for me is choosing myself every single waking day of my life. – Faith Martins

In these little years of mine,

I have learnt that life goes on. It doesn’t wait when you are sad, depressed, weary or even at your lowest point, it always keeps on “lifeing”. Time will continue to fly, others will continue to win, tasks and responsibilities will continue and definitely bills will keep piling. Life doesn’t wait. – Onyinyechukwu Adimabua

In these little years of mine,

I have loved and been loved. I have known what it feels like when everything goes your way. I also know what it feels like to have everything you held so dearly to be snatched away from you in a matter of three days. Despite all this happening, in these same years of mine, I know what it is like to rise up from the ashes. In these little years of mine, I know how it feels to be down and hopeless but I also know what it means to rise and be up again. – Opemipo Omosa

“And so, in these little years of mine, I have learned to hope, to
love and to have faith.”

-Osagie-Erese Nosakhare Valerie
