The woman is beautiful.
I hear people say a lot that women are complex, complicated and most times don’t know what they want. It was something that was built into my psyche. All of a sudden, I did think I was complicated and oftentimes didn’t know what I wanted.
I realized later on that it wasn’t that I didn’t know what I wanted it was that I was afraid to want it. Afraid to declare my greatest desires. As a female, how dare you be bold? How dare you want? How dare you dream?
The woman is anything she wants to be and maybe more.
I hear a lot of people talk about the feminist movement.
It is something that I struggle with. You say you are, and the whole world looks at you funny.
Guys say “you’re a feminist, why should I open the door for you?” “Aren’t you a feminist? Why can’t you change the light bulb?”
You say you’re not and it somehow seems like you’re betraying your team. How can you say you’re not? Don’t you care that women go to school and are given equal rights?
The woman is strong
I hear a lot of people say our mothers are the greatest. They work so hard both in the office and at home. So, there’s a standard.
It’s something that I wonder about. The world judges you guilty if you are or choose to be a stay-at-home mum.
By their views, you’re definitely lazy. What is so difficult in taking care of a home that you can’t do both?
The world puts you on a stake if you choose to be a career woman. Are you a man? You’re going to drive men away from you. You’re intimidating them. You won’t have time for the home. You will scare men away.
I am truly not sure where it all ends.
The woman is a weaker vessel
I hear a lot of people say “that’s a man’s job”.
It’s something I ask myself. How do they know? Who actually makes these rules?
On the flip side if one chooses not to do a “man’s job” and allow themselves to be the “woman” then she’s most likely looking for some gold to dig. *Face-to-the-palm.*
The woman… is girl.
I hear a lot of things about who and what I should be as a woman.
It’s something I am not sure about because whatever which way, I am probably a complex, complicated not knowing what I want human.
I probably won’t win no matter which part I choose
Because I am woman.
So….
I choose to embrace my femininity.
Yes, femininity, the qualities or attributes regarded as characteristic of women. Those things which make me who I am.
I choose to be feminist.
No, I won’t accept to be treated in any way less than a person, an amazing person.
I am woman.
Yes, I would like the door opened for me. My hands held when I’m coming down the stairs. I want to be taken care of, loved and respected.
No, not because I choose a career or to be home with the kids. Not because of any other reason asides the fact that I deserve every drop of goodness.
Because woman is me.
The woman is fabulous.
Hear me as a woman. /Have me as your sister./On purpled battlefield
breaking day,/So I might say our victory is just beginning,/See me as
change,/Say I am movement,/That I am the year,/and I am the era/of the women.
